The highway works for S278 Gorse Lane, Fradley are currently programmed to start on the 23rd of October 2023 for approximately 26 weeks. The construction works will be delivered by MJ Evans Construction Limited as Principal Contractor along with Staffordshire County Council on behalf of the developer, Bellway Homes Limited.

The highway works are shown on the attached drawings (S278-901-1 and 901-2 General Arrangement) and include the construction of a new junction linking Gorse Lane to the proposed development. The work will provide an access road into the proposed residential development and includes but not limited to;

  • Realignment, widening and reconstruction of Gorse Lane carriageway.
  • construction of a combined footway/cycleway alongside the eastern side of Gorse Lane
  • relocation of the existing access to the hangar site
  • associated drainage, pavement, signing and lining, street lighting, etc works.
  • relocation of the speed limit signage.

To undertake the works safely there will be a variety of traffic management measures used, including the closure of Gorse Lane within the works area. These closures are required to be in place for the majority of the project duration. The diversion routes during these closures will be as shown on the attached plan ' 34512-Gorse Lane Fradley Proposed Closure TM Plan’.

Please find attached ‘Highway Works Letter’ that will be sent to the residents and businesses directly affected by the works. Typically, we expect the advanced warning signage to be installed by the contractor at least 2 weeks prior to start of works.
